Yuriy Parkhomenko, Ph-D, Professor

 

Yuriy Parkhomenko was born January 10, 1949. He passed all the way from the student of Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, graduate student, Junior and Senior Researcher, Head of laboratory, Head of Department up to Director of the largest metallurgical institute of the country – “GIREDMET” Institute.

Yiriy Parkhomenko is a prominent scientist in the field of physical chemistry and technology of inorganic materials, analytical methods of studying the composition and properties of inorganic and organic materials, natural materials, the author of more than 200 scientific works, including 3 monographs, 5 patents and inventors' certificates. He created: unique diagnostic methods, physical-chemical basis of materials based on silicon and its compounds, one of the most renowned centers for studies of structure, composition and properties of inorganic substances and materials.

Main scientific achievements of Yuriy Parkhomenko:

- For the first time nanoscale self-organized structures were obtained and studied by atomic force microscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy by ion implantation of germanium into the silicon substrate.
- New direction of establishing relationship between the atomic and electronic structure of the surface, the regularities of phase formation processes in multi-layered compositions based on silicon was developed.
- Scanning probe microscope for diagnosis of nano-objects was worked out.
- A set of control methods of semiconductor materials, nanomaterials, films and coatings was developed.
- A class of silicon-carbon metal films was created. The properties of these films allow to predict their broad relevance to the real objects technology.
- Si-C nanostructures created by plasma deposition (PECVD) and an ordered array of silicon-carbon nanoneedles of different sizes on the silicon substrate were obtained.

Yuri.Parkhomenko performs great scientific-organizational and pedagogical work as the head of department "Materials Science of Semiconductors and Dielectrics" in MISA, the cjief editor of the journal Proceedings of the higher education institutions "Materials of Electronic Technology". He is a member of the editorial board of scientific and technical journal “Nanoindustry”, Deputy Chairman of Dissertation Board 212.132.06 of MISA, a member of Dissertation Board 217.043.01 of “Giredmet” Institute. Yuriy Parkhomenko was a supervisor for 4 Candidate’s and one Doctoral dissertations. He currently supervises 10 graduate students.

.Parkhomenko is a principal and initiator of creation of MISA Research Center for Collective Use "Materials Science and Metallurgy" and Joint Use Center of MISA and “Giredmet”. Yuriy Parkhomenko is granted the RF title "Honored Worker of Higher School".

In 2005 Yuriy Parkhomenko was awarded the prize by the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology.

Since February 2006 Yuriy Parkhomenko takes the post of Director of the “Giredmet” Institute. Within a short period of time he managed not only to stabilize financial situation in the Institute, but also to attract the customers interest to ”Giredmet”.
